Wildlife

It has been an unusual summer here; 80 degree days for the past month and forecasted for the next 10 days at least with little to no rain.  It has also been a great summer for wildlife viewing!
I think my count is at 7 moose, 2 black bears, 2 golden eagles and 3 bald eagles.  I spotted the two black bears in the road across from Mary Carey's and it wasn't 4mi later that I saw a bull moose with full velvet.  Another moose that I've seen a couple of times likes to hangout and watch the road construction that is occurring around mi 87.  I saw him twice just browsing in and around the equipment and traffic.  Hopefully they will be done soon and give him back his home!  By far though, I have seen the most Mosquitos!  They are unbelievable!

The two pictures of Denali were taken a week apart, notice how much growth occurred in the foreground, changes here happen so fast!

Settling in

So I haven't updated in awhile, because unfortunately nothing that exciting has occurred!  Last week the weather was in the 80's and there was a red flag no burn warning, so I got lots of training on front desk duties.
On a brighter note I was able to have a fire last night, lots of guest ask "where are you from" "why did you come here" "what kind of wood are you burning" "what will we be cooking" and other odds and ends!  I enjoy chatting with people and just being outside!  I started another fire tonight, only to be poured on an hour later and have to spend the rest of the night inside!  I am hoping I will have more outside nights than inside nights though, wish me luck and dry weather.
Tomorrow is my first day off, no big plans.  I will try and get some pictures or have something eventful occur to report on.
