207 to 907, and Everywhere In Between!: Day 7

After leaving Fort Nelson around 5:45 am, we headed up the highway for the Laird hot springs, located inside one of the state parks in BC (provincial parks in Canada). Along the highway to the hot springs we saw several black bear and caribou!

We spent about an hour at the hot springs. You had to walk 700m from the parking lot down a boardwalk to the springs, which ranged from 100+ to 80 degrees. I opted for somewhere in the middle, while mom relaxed in the hottest she could stand. Their were stone benched underwater to sit on, which was really neat. This was my first hot spring experience and I obviously didn't get the memo that you shouldn't wear silver jewelry into the water. After relaxing and enjoying our dip, we realized our jewelry was a pleasant purple color, pleasant if it wasn't supposed to be silver. My stomach dropped and I was on the verge of tears looking down at my pandora bracelet, Silpada ring, two Alex and Ani's and my moms two bracelets as well. We were both in disbelief and shock! Fortunately we asked the gatekeeper and she said toothpaste and a toothbrush would fix it.. Phew!

After the hot springs, we continued onto Watson lake and the signpost forest. This place was started by a homesick worker building the highway, who posted a sign pointing towards his hometown with the mileage, over the years it has grown to a vast array of signage. We found Maine amidst the license plates, signs, and other memorabilia. Just after leaving the hot springs is when we began to see bison roadside!

Next stop was Whitehorse, YK. We had dinner at a cute little downtown restaurant called Burnt Toast, but not before visiting the local Starbucks. Who would think that Whitehorse would have two Starbucks?! We hit the second one on the way out of town for a coffee, the first one was for the wifi... I don't think I could put into words my love for Starbucks!

Post Starbucks it was back to the road, destination to be decided...
